This week, Year 5 began the week by researching different Chinese landmarks. We split into groups and used online search engines to find information about: Mount Everest, The Great Wall of China, Tienanmen Square, Xi-an City Wall, Imperial Palace Museum and Terracotta War Museum. We used our facts to create information sheets for our landmarks. In Art, we turned our landmarks into batik images. Firstly, we had to create a simple sketch of our landmark, which was then transferred onto the material. We then took it in turns to apply the batik to the material to create our image. Once our images were finished, we needed to apply the different colour inks to create our finished piece.
Hannah - “It was quite fun. The technique was hard, it was hard to keep your hand steady and not drop the little bits of wax.”
