Exploring Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury Cathedral

On Monday 24th September, Year 5 visited Canterbury Cathedral to learn more about the story of Thomas Becket. We took part in workshops to create souvenirs; learn how to write in the style of a monk and identify the different parts of the cathedral. We were also lucky enough to participate in a costume trail to re-enact Thomas Becket’s life at Canterbury Cathedral. Millie- “I enjoyed learning about the cathedral, and looking at the different coats of arms to show who had helped the cathedral, or paid lots of money to the cathedral.” Bill- “I was a knight on the costume walk and we were allowed to chop the crown off of Thomas Becket’s head. He died because of his beliefs and that makes him a martyr.”
