During English this week (Monday 15th October), Year 5 were debating whether they believed Thomas Becket betrayed King Henry II, or whether it was King Henry II to blame! We had to learn how to persuade our opponent that we were correct, so we began by convincing our partners that our silly sentences were correct. Some of us had to say that we wanted Christmas cancelled! We planned together as a group, and finally had our debate with our speakers and the audience, who were allowed to ask questions. After the debate, we had a vote each, and the result was that Thomas Becket betrayed King Henry II.
