Uniform &

      Presentation

When the Federation was formed in 2007, the children set out to design every aspect of their uniform and pupils gave their opinions again when the uniform was re-styled in 2017.

Our pupils take immense pride in their appearance, both in their neatness of uniform and the way they conduct themselves on trips outside of the College. We often get compliments from members of the public who have noted our pupil's manners and neatness when the children have been on educational events elsewhere, and they are a credit to themselves, as well as to the parents and staff.

Full details on the expectations for College uniform and appearance can be found in the prospectus (located in the Admissions and Prospectus page of the "Key Information" section) A summary of the main content of the policy is given below, along with changes concerning the purchasing of uniform from 2018.

The following guidance has been passed by the Academy Board for White Cliffs Primary College for the Arts and the Board of trustees. Each establishment within the Federation is required to adhere the points set out below and these should be read alongside the College Prospectus. It is the responsibility of the Parent/Carer to follow this guidance,

Jewellery:

For health and safety reasons, children in Pebbles Nursery and Reception classes must not wear any jewellery in College. Children in Years 1 – 6 may wear one pair of small stud earrings. There should be no cartilage piercings. We also advise that personal possessions should not be brought into College. No other jewellery is permitted. For health and safety reasons, only small stud earrings are to be worn. On PE and Games days these should be removed by the child or by the parent before coming into College.

Nail varnish:

All nail varnish should be removed before coming to College. Parents will be called to come in and remove nail varnish.

Extreme Hairstyles or Colouring:

Any extreme colouring of hair (be it complete or partial) is not permitted. Any child not abiding by this rule may be excluded until the situation has been rectified.

There should be no ‘crew cut’ hairstyles: hair should be no shorter than a ‘grade/number 2’ (6 mm - 1/4") on the sides and ‘grade/number 4’ (12 mm -1/2") on top. Also, hair should not have any patterns or defined lines shaved into it under any circumstances. Again, a child may be excluded until the situation has been rectified and a course of action agreed with the parent.
